happy thanksgiving!

i hope you all have a very wonderful thanksgiving weekend. i'm doing a quick texas stop in houston and dallas this week {as you have probably seen in my instagrams}, so i'll be taking a hiatus from the blog for the week. i've been so blessed by many in texas and it's such a special thing to gather everyone together for the holidays. it's sweet to see familiar faces and be with loved ones like the good 'ol days, even though things have changed.

i love wearing my adelita brocade mini dress for the holidays! it's so festive + classy with a great keyhole in the back...oh, and it has pockets. i also went to the cutest stationery shop in houston the other day. be sure to check out ph design shop!

ever since bhldn {beholden} launched, i've been hooked. there are such beautiful + affordable gowns for brides and precious gifts + decor for entertaining. here are a few of my favorite things they have in their new sale!

happy monday, y'all! today i'm inspired by all things frances may in portland, oregon.

this boxes mille neuf cent quatre vingt quatre scarf {in english that's 1984) by frances may is one of my favorites. i think the different colored and patterned boxes make for a fun + abstract scarf – a sure stunner!

i love the color of these rachel comey whiskey mars boots made in peru. not quite so bold? these slightly taller gray boots are a great neutral option.

and i'm obsessed with this demylee natalie dress. i love that it's a sweater dress with stripes + boat neck – super cute for fall!

fashion's night out

tonight's the night! red carpets, goodie bags, and fashion galore at fashion's night out. i'll be in dc with some girl friends checking it out for the first time, though i should probably be spending this time picking out my outfit or doing my hair. can't wait to share a recap with y'all!

it's my first time {sailing}

i had a great first experience sailing on monday. in theory, i've always loved sailing but there's nothing like getting out there on the water and seeing how it's done for yourself. i took a free 2-hour exploring sailing class at belle haven marina and got a feel for some of the basics. it was a beautiful view from the potomac river, seeing national harbor and the beautiful green of the virginia/dc border. everyone should do this at least once! it's so peaceful.

i finally got to use my boat shoes for what they're made for, and indeed i did not slip.

here's what i wore: sunglasses / navy polo / watch / white jean shorts / sperry boat shoes

it's almost the weekend, y'all!

i'm particularly excited cause it'll be a beach weekend {also the first time for me on an east coast beach} with my housemates, so i'm loading up the playlist with lots of '90s tracks and including some new tunes from robyn, yuna, phillip phillips {if you've been watching the olympics, you'll recognize 'home'}, owl city + carly rae jepsen, and rascal flatts.

Fashion: Dorothy circa 2012

J. Crew's new catalog hit the doorsteps last week and I have to congratulate myself for having the strength to stay away from it until after I got some good work done. Needless to say, I swooned over the many things I could never buy and so I shall post them. First up are these gorgeous new flats with a gold heel. Dorothy's got nothing on these. They come in black, dusty jade, neon persimmon (shown below), apricot mist, and metallic gold. How classy and fun!

in my shopping basket

i love the internet, and sometimes it's to my disadvantage because i browse endlessly on websites and blogs. i have this bad habit of filling up my online shopping basket with a bunch of great finds (and of course a few splurges), and then quickly closing out the window. i did it again today with my housemate sitting next to me on the couch and she just laughed at me. anyway, here's a few items that made it into my shopping basket.

totally in love with this front opening dress from zara | comes in pink (more like peach) or mint

i'm currently loving the coral/tangerine family paired with some gold. my picks are this j.crew bangle and seville wedge espadrilles in that tory burch-like orange.

i've been looking out for a good full purse with a crossbody strap for easy slinging over the shoulder. today i spotted this champs-elysees bag in orange and all american bag in blue (or red) from francesca's collection.
