{things i love} roonie co. packaging bling

so i just *have* to share these ridiculously adorable clay tags with you from the new roonie co.  created by the brilliant forces of lindsay {mstetson} + mindy gayer, these handmade tags are to die for!  they offer a variety of shapes, sizes, and greetings – take your pick at the roonie co. etsy shop.  this is what i call package bling, if you know what i mean.
we used these for some special holiday packages for fig. 2 design studio last year and they were so much fun!  if you want to add a little color like we did, we used spray paint and it worked well!
cheers & happy monday!

the brady bunch

i hope y'all had a great labor day weekend.  i definitely did my fair share of laboring this weekend, but in the midst of all of it i found the brady bunch of telephones.  can you believe this?  i know we're in the iPhone age and not many of you {including me} have used a corded telephone in years, but these are just so fun i could die.  this lovely etsy shop in ohio has these phones in a plethora of colors {even more than what i have pictured below}.  saying hello can't get more fun than this!

etsy round-up!

happy friday, y'all!  it's been week full of new colors, good dinners, and pinning a little more often than i should.  i've got a few etsy finds for you to kick off the weekend!  my weekend is wedding-filled with perhaps an a capella concert to top it all off, plus my little brother is going off to college!  man, how does time fly by... what does yours look like?

these illuminations bring an unexpected twist to your lighting.  you can even design your own and pick your color cord to mix & match.

xoxo, megan

p.s. it's vicki's birthday today, so give her a warm little shout out!
here's an old picture of us taking part in some of the wedding fun

etsy round-up!

currently

It's a bit overcast today, but I'm here again at Northside Social with my chai latte. The past few days have been particularly eventful. My hands are a bit worn from dealing with thorns and floral tape at Holly Chapple's floral shop, my feet a bit sore from running around the beautiful grounds of Airlie from this weekend's wedding. This week ended well as I hit some major milestones like watching Bad Boys II and The Matrix for the first time (yes, yes, I know...cue jaws dropping). And though I'm not the biggest sports fanatic, Texas pride definitely runs in my blood. Go Cowboys! What else is new?

currently {eyeing}

Ever since I found out I was moving, I've been eyeing these wood-handled address stamps by notetrunk. I've always wanted one of my own and unfortunately most of my favorites all have ampersands, which aren't currently applicable to my life - haha. Anyway, just thought I'd share a few that I like:

for the {nerd}

Here are some cool finds for your slightly nerdy friends, even if that might just be you.

rubik's cube alarm clock at fred flare, $30
chemistry flasks at the curiosity shoppe, $19.95-25.95

atmosphere 18x24 silkscreen print by brainstorm print & design, $30
rocket science necktie by toybreaker, $30

for the {reader/writer}

Though it's often hard to find time, I love to read. I'm in the progress of collecting Coralie Bickford-Smith's clothbound series (there are 4, the first two are pictured below). I haven't read most of these books, but they're the classics and I do hope to read them all one day!

I also love to write, particularly cards. The written word is so powerful and (sadly) a dying art. There's something especially exhilarating about getting a card in the mail, so 9 times out of 10 I'll pay the oh so hefty postage and send you snail mail over an e-card.

So if any of you out there are like me, here are some things that are bound to get you excited:

renegade craft fair: austin {recap}

This weekend I had the great pleasure of going to the renegade craft fair in Austin (and, of course, I dragged some reluctant friends there as well). I met so many talented artists and was definitely inspired to (maybe) start an etsy of sorts for myself. Magnolia Photobooth Co set up a booth there with lots of props, so my friends and I took the liberty of getting some free prints. (:

I can honestly say that every booth there was full of talent and innovation. I can't believe I didn't go last year! There's not enough room to display all the talent in this post, but here are a few of my favorites that I saw at the show.

{things i love} flowers

the weather in houston, dare i say, has been absolutely beautiful the past few days. i went strawberry picking on sunday. my roommate and i managed nearly 11 lbs of strawberries. e-le-ven! i'll be starting a series later this week on all the recipes we tried and concocted on our own. be sure to come check it out! if you have any recipes that have strawberries that we should try - let me know!

wedding wednesday: cake toppers

having a distinctive wedding cake topper is a small way to set your wedding apart from the rest. it's a representation of the mr. and mrs. and it doesn't always have to be replicated little people that look like you (although it would be a cute keepsake after the big day)

you can get custom cake toppers made anywhere, including on etsy, but they typically run from $75+.
here are some cute one's i've stumbled upon

angry birds by elle jin, $60

customizable sweetheart cake topper on the knot wedding shop, $79.95

penguin love angels by kikuike, $100

bride & groom cut-out cake topper on the knot wedding shop, $79.95

custom lego wedding cake topper by sean kenney, $79

etsy spotlight: vol25

sorry for being MIA these past few days. i took a little vacation which was wonderfully refreshing, but not to worry - i'm back and will post later about my outings in austin, texas.

today's etsy spotlight features these beautiful prints from volume 25
most of these prints go for $24 and are 8x10" in size (printed on 8.5x11")

typography thursday

if you're my friend, you probably know of my deep dislike of the font "comic sans". this overused, and often misused font is deeply misunderstood. the comic sans criminal website is hilarious, and explains how terrible it is to use such a font so nonchalantly.

share this with your fellow comic sans abusers and misusers. they're all out there, i know you are. i see it on business e-mails at work and company websites. spread the word!

and here are a few pieces for the home for all you type nerds.

serif typography wall art by pepper sprouts, $70

fabulous font coasters by carolina cottage, $20

i love pride and prejudice and there are so many cute jane austen inspired works including this
mr. darcy proposal dish towel by brookish, $11

blessings & hope,
megan

paper love

sorry for the recent lack of posts. it's been pretty crazy down here in houston, but i'm back with some wonderful paper things to share.

paperwink has wonderful custom stamps and notebooks, and some products are now 30% off!

travel tuesday: nyc & prints

my spring break trip to new york city is officially underway!
in exactly a month, i'll be stepping foot in the big apple for the first time. needless to say, i'm so excited to get to cross this off my bucket list, and to get out of houston for a while. 4 girls in the big city...anything is possible!

(photos via acm_a,  ben_ben26 & mikemcd, respectively)

we've made a list of places we want to go see & eat including momofuku, shake shack, chelsea market, and serendipity. we're trying to go to a talk show & broadway, but tickets are expensive and going fast. if you've been before and have some ideas, please let me know!

i was so excited, so i plotted out all our adventures on a google map! check it out :)
