I am so sore. This is all I've been saying (or whining?) since I've been back from my first snowboarding experience. For those that have been before, you know exactly what I'm talking about. I went with a group from my church to White Tail (a ski resort in Pennsylvania) and, though having prior painful experiences with snow sports, attempted to conquer the slopes.
Clearly a rookie, I made the wise decision of taking the free lessons included in the snowboarding package. Surprisingly, all the instructors were great articulate teachers with lots of patience (thank the good Lord!). I must've been stuck at just learning how to get straight down the slope for twice as long as everyone else in my intial group. While the rest of the much younger first-timers sped ahead of me at the stations, I took my time learning...and falling. Needless to say, the rest of the day was spent on the green (beginner) slopes falling just to get up again. Though I definitely didn't master the art of snowboarding, I am proud that I tried until I couldn't bear to move anymore.

Here's a snap of some of the my youth girls who went on the trip! Church friends: why are we so bad at taking group pictures?! Sigh, haha, maybe next time. Yes, I said next time. I think even after all the falling down I'd still go back and try again.
The best part was that we grabbed some good 'ol southern cooking at Cracker Barrel on the way back! I'm battling it through this winter climate, and sometimes I actually like it (especially when it snows!), but overall, I could do without it. I'm too used to the Texas heat.
Also, thermals are a-mazing! And big props to my North Face jacket. Oh, and a minor side note...I'm so small I have to use a child-size snowboard, haha. Gee whiz, I forget how small I am compared to the average human being. Oh well, at least I get to buy kid-size shoes for a quarter of the price.
P.S. Thanks for the face lift, Ana!
