a little career talk

hair up.  glasses on.  let's talk career for a sec.  where do yourself in 5 years?  okay, forget that.  where do you see yourself next year?  if you can answer that, you're 10 steps ahead of me, cause i have no idea.  but i've learned that that's okay.

i'll admit that i'm bad at setting good goals for myself.  i love my to-do list, but it only plans the days and the weeks.  i can envision dreams and decor all day long, but for myself I feel like my future is a big blur.  or maybe more like a tornado or hurricane.  a foggy mess.  since i moved to the DC / NOVA area, i've been taking it day by day.  literally.  this is the most spontaneous i've ever been in my life (but even then, i still (try to) plan), and because of all this i've gained great experience and knowledge in so many things i love.

but now what?  i'm asking myself questions (and so are my friends) about what i really want to do.  to be honest, i could throw out a million answers of things i'm interested in pursuing, like learning to do visual displays at somewhere fancy like anthropologie or doing admin work (yep, i said it...l-o-v-e it.) at a magazine or somewhere like google.  the possibilities are endless, which i find to be both a blessing and a curse.  but at the end of the day, it's up to me.  i choose how i spend my time, where i spend my time, and with whom i spend my time.  i choose to take a risk, or timidly stay behind.  i choose to run for the goal, walk candidly, or take a slow turtle-esque pace.  what are you choosing to do?

the next 3 months are going to be a crucial time for me.  discovering more of myself, more of what the Lord has for me.  reconfiguring my living situation, focusing my career(s?).  it's terrifyingly thrilling, but i'm here.  and i'm ready.  or so i'd like to think, hah.  so if you find yourself in a position like myself, here are some great tips from jess lc on things to do when you're in a career fog.
